Principal's Message

Welcome to Bellarmine Jefferson High School!

Since 1944 Bellarmine-Jefferson High School has been a part of the Burbank community serving as its first Catholic High School.

I have have the honor of being principal here at Bellarmine Jefferson since July of 2013. Our school has such a rich history, impressive accomplishments, and bright future.  We are very blessed with to have great students, parents, staff, faculty and administration.  Bellarmine-Jefferson is a special place!

The success of our students now and in the future is related to the efforts of our faculty. Our teachers are committed to carrying on the values that helped build this school. They are professional, compassionate listeners who are committed to student achievement.  We will continue to dedicate ourselves to growing in faith, knowledge, and our teaching craft.

As a Catholic School we have the opportunity to share our faith experiences and share all that the Gospel and Catholic Church have to offer.  We have the opportunity to share in the ministry of Jesus Christ.  We as a faculty, staff and administration are blessed with the opportunity to live this experience with the young people we work with every day.

The future for Bellarmine Jefferson is bright:

  • We have complete wireless coverage.  We have had a recent upgrade to our infrastructure that gives us complete Internet access on campus.

  • In the fall semester of 2014 we rolled out our 1:1 technology program using the Chromebook as our platform.   These devices will help our students develop the 21st century skills they will need to be successful in college and their future career.

  • We are proud of our partnership with the Amgen Biotech Experience.  Our Biology classes are able to work on laboratory experiments that the Biologists at Amgen do on a regular basis.  The Amgen corporation provides training for our Science faculty and they provide the equipment for special labs.

  • Library Renovations: In the summer of 2015 due to a grant from the John and Dorothy Shea Foundation and the support of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, our library went through a complete renovation.  We have  a space for study, learning, sharing, and meeting.  It is a wonderful space for students faculty, parents, guests and alumni to enjoy.
  • During our "Guard Block" period our students have many choices for alternative classes.  Some of the options include STEM offerings including our robotics team.  We offer various physical education opportunities, a Media Arts Program as well as many of our service, leadership, and ministry opportunities.

  • Starting in the winter of 2016 we have our "Intersession". In January our students participate in 3 weeks of alternative learning opportunities.  Including Media, Theater and visual Arts Programs,  culinary arts and service opportunities.  In the future of our intersession we hope to expand our offerings to include internships in the local community and mission trips around the world.

We are very blessed to have the support of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  A special thanks to Dr. Kevin Baxter Superintendent of Catholic Schools and Dr. Dan O'Connell Deputy Superintendent of Catholic High Schools who provide support to the Bellarmine-Jefferson Community.

Bellarmine-Jefferson has successfully educated students in a Catholic tradition since 1944, we have a strong history.  The work we are doing now promises that we will have a wonderful future as well.
